GED essay topic – choose the correct one and get the dream grade

GED or General Education Development is the evaluation process that a student needs to undergo before completing high school studies and setting off for the college. These tests are conducted to see whether the  students have achieved the standard set by the American or Canadian board of education for the high school level. This testing procedure consists of five major subjects on which the students are evaluated. These are science, mathematics, social sciences, reading and writing. The writing part consists of writing essays. Selecting the correct GED essay topic for the test is very important to get good marks in the writing section.

Firstly make sure whether the topic can be chosen at all. Think of a topic that is interesting and attractive. However, just choosing an attractive topic without knowing it will not help and instead will reveal the writer’s ignorance on that subject. So be careful while choosing topics. It has to be something which the writer is interested in and has a good knowledge of. Of course the instructor will be more interested in how well the essay has been written following the correct essay format but it always helps to choose an attractive topic. A good impression at the beginning always makes for a good start.

At the high school level one is generally well conversed with term paper writing and research paper writing. For the GED essay topics one can choose from personal essay topics, discussion essay topics, argumentative research paper topics, controversial research topics or any other high school research topics. Some GED essay topics to choose from:

1. Your childhood hero. Now that you have grown up, from what perspective do you see the hero?

2. Describe an incident in your life that you think has changed your pattern of thinking and looking at things.

3. Choose one person from your family whom you look up to and describe why you look up to that person.

4. One thing that you regret doing in life and would like to make amends if given a chance.

5. Write on a hobby that you find most relaxing and use it as a stress buster.

6. What is the most serious issue that you think is destroying the world?

7. Legalizing abortion.

8. Legalizing prostitution.

9. Banning adoption by the same sex couples.

10. No human rights for terrorists, rapists and other murderers.

will I need to go through many books before I write a GED essay? and what sources would you advise to have a look at?

  • content

    Dear Andrew,

the GED test, including writing a GED essay is to check your general knowledge that you acquired during years of studying. It should not and it will not include reference to any information that you have not studied before. Going through additional sources if of no need, just refresh what you learned before

  • Melanie

    Dear Cindy,

Normally, a student comes up with the topic themselves and get approval from their tutor. This will not let “I know nothing about the topic” happen:)
If you have are any more questions, we will be glad to assist you.
