Writing an Essay – Place your order for an A level Custom Essay Paper

Writing an essay requires the writer to express well so that the article he is writing appeals to his readers. For this he needs to follow certain steps. First he has to choose a good topic. The writer must remember to choose a writing topic he has knows well. Next step would be to explore the chosen topic well. It will be his first duty to imbibe as much as possible information on the topic by doing a through research work on it. As one learns more, his knowledge level increases too. Internet is one such place where information on almost everything is available. Besides, books and journals also help to gather information. So the second step would be to gather information. however, only gathering data does not help. so the third step would be to analyse the collected data and information and understand the topic very well. Logical analysis and synthesis of the topic are also important aspects good essay writing. The topic should be broken down in such a way that it explores all the issues relevant to the project. All arguments must be analysed critically and all causes and effects examined with minute detailing.

Once the analysis of the collected data is done the writer must set about writing the essay. Here the writer must express his thoughts in a coherent manner to the reader. The power of expression is another skill necessary to be a good writer. One must always write in simple, short and concise sentences and present only relevant information. The correct essay format should be followed with correct in-text citations and references. The paper should be edited and proof read properly so that it is absolutely free of any sort of grammatical or spelling errors.

A good essay should generally have the five paragraph format, one para for the introduction, three paragraphs for the body and one for the conclusion. Given below is the format to be followed while writing an essay.

Introduction

John Hancock, one of the founding fathers of modern America, was easily one of the most prominent and popular men during and after the American freedom movement in the middle and later part of the 18th century. He was instrumental in pushing the American Revolution and giving it the start. Though not very well known today, he cut a very flamboyant and dominant figure in his times. John Hancock was born in Braintree (Massachusetts) on 23rd of January 1737 to Reverend John Hancock and Mary Thaxter. However being orphaned at a very young age he was adopted by his uncle Thomas Hancock and his wife Lydia, a childless couple. Thomas Hancock had a very ….

Body

After completing his academic life (Boston Latin School and later Harvard University) he started working in his uncle’s firm. It was at this time that the Seven Years’ War started (1756-1763) which later fueled the war of American independence. John Hancock spent some time in England(1760-1761) while working for his uncle to develop business contacts and relationships and soon became a full time partner with the…..

During this period of political unrest and increasing tensions with the ruling British, Hancock came to the fore front as a prominent political leader in Boston. He was elected as one of the five Select Men from Boston in the year 1765 just before the Stamp Act was passed. This Stamp Act led to violent organized protests and riots but at first Hancock decided to take a moderate stand. He thought that the Americans as loyal subjects should pay the taxes, though…

As an elected member of the house of Massachusetts, Hancock boldly defied the British Empire on their tax act. As Eliot commented on Hancock that, “he blazed a Whig of the first magnitude”(as cited in Klos, 2000) while reading out his defiance act. The British retaliated by trying to seize Hancock’s sloop “Liberty” on the charges of misuse of trade laws…

Conclusion

As John Milton once said “They also serve, who only stand and wait” (Milton, “When I Consider How my Light is Spent”- Sonnet XIX, 2003), John Hancock did not have a glamorous role to play in the revolution; he was not the stuff legends are made of……

Literary Essay Guidelines

A literary essay as the very name suggests is writing an article on some famous works by a well known author like Shakespeare. Sometimes the students may need to compare and contrast between two works by the same author like say a compare and contrast essay between Macbeth and Othello. He could also be asked to take up one very well known work by an author and asked to give its influence on the contemporary literature of that time. He might also be asked to write a critical analysis of a well known literary work eg. Hamlet. The students can also be asked to write a comparative essay discussing two works based on a similar theme by two different authors. So the options are many and it becomes essential for the student to understand the project given, very well. To start with, the novel in question must be read thoroughly and if required many times. Then one must come up with a really good and impressive argument line or the thesis statement. The whole essay will then revolve round this thesis statement. The student will have to prove the basis of his argument or the thesis statement. For this he needs to do extensive research work and come up with evidences that support his argument. Once the research work is done and the outline prepared then the essay will follow the normal pattern and format of a research paper. Since this is a literature paper in all probability it will have to be written in a mla essay format

Like any other essay this academic essay will also consist of an introduction, a body and a conclusion. Given below are excerpts from a literary essay written on the novel ‘pride and prejudice’.

Introduction

Women in England, in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century, were seen as mere ornaments by the society. Their position in the family was like that of painted china dolls and all that they could do were getting themselves married off to men with respectable family names and plenty of money. This picture was evident in both the middle class and upper class sections of the society. It was a very clearly drawn picture where a family was seen as a basic pillar or foundation of the then society and so stress was laid on creating beautifully happy families….

Body

Education during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century was not a state organized or centrally controlled affair. It was run mainly by the churches in the locality or by charitable organizations where children of the middle and upper classes were not sent for education. At this time class distinction was at its peak, great stress being laid on family wealth and powerful connections. Children of the affluent class were imparted education at the privacy of their homes and women were mostly taught lessons that would help them to run their future homes, like practical lessons related to cookery, sewing, singing, dancing and religious classes….

The patriarchal nature is aptly shown in the starting lines of “Pride and Prejudice”, as Jane Austen tells us in a satirical tone “It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife” (Austen, p.1). In this famous novel Austen paints a wonderful picture of the social fabric of the late eighteenth century England. Elizabeth Bennet the second daughter of the Bennet family is the chief protagonist in this novel and is certainly one of the famous characters in the world of English literature. She is intelligent and witty….This is against the society edicts during those times where girls were trained to marry well. As Elizabeth sees …

Mrs. Bennet, the mother of Elizabeth and her four sisters, epitomizes the middle class women of those times who is hell bent on getting her daughters married to well established men. Foolish in nature and prone to prattling all the time we find that her sole aim is to seek matrimonial alliances for her daughters to the very people who all despise her and snub her for her very obvious lower class upbringing. Lady Catherine de Bourgh who is Darcy’s aunt and also the patroness of Mr. Collins, a tiresome clergyman who proposes to Elizabeth and on her refusal marries her dear friend Charlotte Lucas, the daughter of a poor family. ….

Conclusion

…Women now can rise in society by their own accomplishments and talents, instead of waiting to catch a man and make a profitable marriage and climb up the social strata.

Opinion Essay- Guidelines

An opinion essay entails that the writer presents his personal views supported by reasons and evidences in such a manner that it gives an insight into the mind and thinking capabilities of the author. Opposing viewpoints must also be presented in the essay and by means of proper arguments shown that they are unconvincing. In this essay type there will be an introduction that will state the topic and present the opinion of the writer. The main body generally consisting of three or more paragraphs, will have the opinion or view point discussed in greater detail and supported by evidences and reasons. Opposite viewpoints are to be proven unconvincing here in the main body with the help of suitable arguments. The conclusion will give a summary of the main points discussed in the essay and will re state the writer’s viewpoint preferably in different words.

An opinion essay in the introduction will state its stand very clearly, as for example, in an essay on euthanasia the writer will make clear his stand as follows “It discusses the pros and cons of euthanasia and takes a ringside view and examines the subject both from an ethical and medical viewpoint. The article also takes a stand and in favor of passive euthanasia under certain guidelines and conditions only. It also discusses the effects it may have on society if all forms of euthanasia are made legal….”

The body of the essay will have certain phrases that are to be used while writing an opinion essay and these are ‘my opinion is that….’, ‘I firmly believe that…..’, ‘I am convinced that…’ and ‘according to my point of view’ and other simliar phrases in the same vein.

The conclusion will have to strongly reiterate the writer’s views on the topic .While writing on euthanasia, as for example, he will have to conclude in the following manner ” ….Active euthanasia is actually killing a person in cold blood and should never be made legal, as it would lead to may dangerous pitfalls. Euthanasia is a dangerous ground to walk on and one has to tread extremely cautiously. It is very easy to merge mercy killing and murder as one, owing to the fact that the lines separating these two are very fine. As much as we would like to respect a patient’s wish to die with dignity, we must also take care to keep in mind that under the garb of legalized euthanasia murder of innocent victims does not occur.”

An opinion essay is generally easy to write as there is no compulsion on the part of the writer to convince his readers. He will just have to present his opinion, leaving the reader to decide on his own. So he can write on anything he feels strongly about, without having to really work hard on convincing someone.
An apa reseach paper outline

Topic – Should euthanasia be legalized?

Introduction – State briefly why the topic is important and is it really necessary to legalize euthanasia. It should contain a definition of euthanasia and key terms attached to it. Define the two main forms of euthanasia in practice, voluntary and involuntary euthanasia. Give examples of both the types. State which countries allow euthanasia. Briefly outline the various moral views on euthanasia. Make your stand on the topic very clear and give a thesis statement at the end.

Body- It will expand on the definition of euthanasia and discuss the various perspectives on euthanasia. Discuss in details what various philosophers like Hume, Hobbes and Machiavelli had to say on euthanasia. Discuss what various religious teachings say on this issue and also explore other views and thoughts on euthanasia. Give the various theories on euthanasia. Give number of examples on this controversial issue and discuss the dilemmas that the patients and their families had to go through. Discuss the negative aspects of legalizing active euthanasia and take your position on the issue and refute your stand by giving logical and strong evidences.

Conclusion

Present a summary on all that has been discussed and reinstate your thesis statement. Give a strong concluding statement.

In-text citations in apa research paper outline:

As Cundiff frames it, “the decision to allow a terminally ill person to die usually comes after multiple treatments have failed to cure or control a patient’s disease and the prognosis is poor. Patients themselves, and family members, begin to appreciate that further heroic treatment would only prolong suffering and dying and not give a realistic chance at remission or recovery (Cundiff, 1992).

A statement issued in Michigan, 1998, by a multi religious forum, “those who promote the last, fatal escape as a “right” should remember that such a “right” may quickly become an expectation and finally even a “duty” to die. We fear eventually that some individuals and families will be forced to put financial concerns above the needs of loved ones” (cited in Straiton, Reason Opposes Euthanasia, 2006)

In an apa essay, for directly quoted works which do not give the name of the author, should be represented by the name of the publication and the year of publication. If there are more than 6 authors then the last name of the first author should be given followed by the word et al.

DBQ Essay – Guidelines

A dbq essay or a document based essay is generally a two (computer generated- double spaced) or three(handwritten) pages of article writing. This essay style will comprise of minimum six paragraphs. One for the introduction, minimum four for the body and one for the conclusion. This is a moderately easy essay with not much hard work required.

While writing a dbq essay one has to understand the question well. The question will tell the writer whether the essay written will be in answer to a reaction or to an attitude. It will also give a clue as to whether the answer should be in response to a social, political or economic aspect of the given document. As for example, if the given document is on the history of New Netherlands and the question asked is “What was the role of the Dutch West India Co. (DWIC) in creating the New Netherland society? ” This is a question that is pertaining to all the three aspects, that is social, political and economic, since it talks of creating a completely new society in a foreign place by the the Dutch people. All the three aspects must be touched upon and discussed.

The first paragraph (introduction )should be something like this. It should give the beginnings of the dutch colonization of new Netherlands and should have a strong thesis statement at the end of the paragraph.

In 1602, the States General of Netherlands chartered the East India Company to find a route to the Indies and take over new territories and as a consequence, the fur-trading route of America opened up. To take part in this fur trade the first Dutch vessel named St Pieter carrying the merchant Arnout Vogels set sail for Hudson Bay in 1611, and this expedition proved so successful that soon many others also joined in. In 1615, the New Netherland Company, with the monopoly of the fur trade, built Fort Orange near Albany. Soon the Dutch realized their need to have a permanent presence in the area. First group of settlers under Dutch West India Company arrived in 1624. However, the settlements proved to be unsafe due to constant attacks from the natives and in 1626, the Dutch bought the island of Manhattan. Soon, to attract more colonial settlers they brought in Patroonship Plan under which many grants were lavished upon the settlers. Under this plan, the Dutch spread their colonial establishment and the New Netherlands took shape with its main center spread from Hudson Bay to Albany….Under this plan, the Dutch spread their colonial establishment and the New Netherlands took shape with its main center spread from Hudson Bay to A.

The body should discuss how the society was actually formed based on economic reasons and political reasons:

The Dutch west India co. played a primary role in creating the new Netherlands society. It brought in colonial settlers and under its authority, new Netherlands was formally made into a province. It paid skilled workers to come and settle down under lucrative terms and sent over provisions on a regular basis to the settlers. Soon they brought in the “Patroonship Plan” under which new settlers would be given land and all rights similar to that of a “manorial lord.” Colonial requirements were made easier and large lands given away to lure more settlers and this helped in the spread of the new Netherlands territory from Connecticut in the north to …

The conclusion should sum the entire write up and have a strong concluding statement.

……Inhabitants brought in by the DWIC consisted of farmers, traders, artisans and skilled laborers, thus helping to create a New Netherlands society.

Thus the best way to write a dbq essay is to write an article that is well developed , logical and is clearly organized. The question set, is to be thoroughly and completely addressed and the student has to accurately analyze and interpret the given document.
A science essay is writing about the various improvisations made by man and nature. It is the study of how man and nature work for their own benefit. A science paper on biology would explore the natural habitat around us. It would research the flora and the fauna of the past and the present and prepare a paper that would give us an insight into this fascinating world of all living things. A technology paper would take up issues pertaining to the technological and engineering marvels invented by human intelligence and used for the benefit of all. Given below is an example of a science essay that discusses the process called fusion, a very important scientific process.

Introduction

     Nuclear fusion – the process:
When the nucleus of an atom undergoes changes due to certain physical reactions the process is known as a nuclear reaction and during this reaction a certain amount of energy is released which is the nuclear energy. This nuclear energy is produced by nuclear reactions of two types:
1.	Nuclear fission.
2.	Nuclear fusion.
Nuclear fusion. The word itself shows what the term refers to. “Fusion” means to join or combine together. So in a nuclear fusion it is the joining or combining of two nuclei to form a new nucleus. Here the two nuclei of a lighter element combine to form the nucleus of a heavier element. As Singh and Kaur define it “the process in which two nuclei of light elements (like that of hydrogen) combine to form a heavy nucleus (like that of helium) is called nuclear fusion ( Singh and Kaur,“Science for Tenth Class (part 1)”, 242). The nuclei ….

Body

Hydrogen and its isotopes (protium, deuterium or tritium) which have the smallest nuclear charge react at the required minimum heat or temperature and helium and its isotopes (3He and 4He) with an extremely low nuclear mass are the preferred fusion atoms. Two nuclei of the Hydrogen atoms of mass number 2 (Deuterium atoms) under high temperature and pressure combine to form the bigger and heavier nucleus of helium along with the release of a neutron. The equation would look like this:
2H1 +    2H1   ———————->   3He2                  +                1neutron0   + large amount of energy.
(Two deuterium (heavy helium atom)
light atoms)
In a nuclear fusion the process involves liberation of a large amount of energy which is termed as “Fusion power”. However…..

Conclusion

Research work has been going on for the last 50 years with the aim of producing a nuclear fusion reaction that would be under control and the heat produced due to the liberated energy can be tapped for the production of electric power. Self-sustaining and controlled fusion reactions have been shown to some extent in the tokamak reactors which theoretically can produce ten times more heat energy than is required for the nuclei to fuse together for the fusion to start. Tokamak is a sort of thermonuclear fusion inducing reactor. It was first developed by the then USSR and are now seen in other countries too. However, the correct procedure to make the nuclear fusion self-sustaining is still eluding the scientists and the building …..

History Essays – Guidelines

Writing history essays is nothing different from writing any other essays. It is only that the subject differs. A history paper, one will have to keep in mind, has to be very precise with dates and happenings. Information given in the essay has to be accurate and a lot of detailed examination and research will have to go into the topic. So it is imperative for the writer to collect as much notes as possible. However one must also take care to see that the notes collected are relevant and pertaining to the theme. Irrelevant and illogical facts spoil the temperament of the paper and the writer will end up getting poor grades. A history paper will generally follow the mla essay format or will be written as in a Chicago style paper.

Given below are examples of how to write history on various topics:

The seven years war was the actual first world war – expand

The Seven Years War which lasted from 1756 till 1763 was in true sense the First World War as it involved conflicts between all the powerful European states of that time and also involved America and India. It involved major skirmishes between Prussia, Britain and small German states against a coalition of major powers consisting of Russia, Austria, Sweden, France and the Saxony. This war had its roots in the result of the previously fought War of Austrian Succession (1740-1748). Austria had never wanted to give up Silesia to Prussia and it was unhappy with the continuing colonial expansion of Britain and France. So in a true sense the Seven years War was a continuation of the Austrian War of Succession. Later Portugal (on the English side) and also Spain (on the French side) were drawn in to the war. Netherlands who had wanted to remain neutral had its force attacked in India…..

Impact of American Revolution on Europe

The American Revolution refers to the formation of the sovereign United States of America during the latter half of the 18th century. During this revolution the thirteen colonies of North America refused to be under the rule of the British Empire and monarchy and declared their independence. Many social changes were noticed and many republican ideals took shape at this time which resulted in democracy for the American people and also created the basics (liberty, equality, rights, anti corruption stance) that form the political values of America even today. The American Revolution was an eye opener for many countries under colonial or monarchical rule leading them to realize that they could also break away and form elected governments. This revolution….

History essays make it essential for the writer to give a detailed description, complete with dates, and strong evidences for all given arguments. This will in turn require the writer a lot of in-depth exploration on the given subject. Read the given sample essays on history topics to see how to write this paper well. If you feel that do not have much time to do the detailed research work on the theme, with the deadline just around the corner, just come to MasterPapers.com and place an order for your custom essay.

Knowing how to cite a paper is one of the most important aspects of essay writing. It is essential that a writer is aware of all the essay formats types that are used for writing. The most commonly used formatting patterns are the MLA, APA, Chicago and Harvard. While giving direct quotations it is imperative for the writer to cite correctly so as to avoid being charged for plagiarism.

Given below are examples of how to cite a paper correctly using various essay formats:

In case of MLA formatting, in-text citation will give the author’s name and page number. Without the available name of the author the title of the work cited can be used instead of the author’s name along with page number.

As for example:

According to Higginson “these qualities rendered him a proper object for the effective patriots…to bring forward to favour their views…..availed themselves of his great desire for popularity….represented him as a man useful in the cause of liberty…he was captivated…of being a publick man…was lavish of money…to gain their affections” (Higginson, p. 6-7)

The ‘works cited’ page for this would be:

Higginson, Stephen.Ten Chapters in the life of John Hancock. New York. Original from
University of California, 1857. Digitized on 11th October 2007. Print.

In case of net reference – site name. article heading or name. Date of publishing. Name of the affiliated university or organization. web. Date of when you visited the site.

In case of journal reference – Author. Name of the article. Name of the journal. Date of publishing. Pages referred. Print.

For APA formatting the in-text citation for a book would be:

According to Higginson (1857) “these qualities rendered him a proper object for the effective patriots…to bring forward to favour their views…..availed themselves of his great desire for popularity….represented him as a man useful in the cause of liberty…he was captivated…of being a publick man…was lavish of money…to gain their affections” (Higginson, 1857).

The ‘reference’ page would be:

Higginson, Stephen. (1857). Ten Chapters in the life of John Hancock. New York. Original from
University of California. Digitized on 11th October 2007. 6-7.

In case of journals – last name of author, initials of the first name of the author (year).
name of the article. Name of the journal. Volume number. Pages.

In case of net reference – last name of author, initials of the first name of the author (year).
Name of the article. Name of the Online journal. Retrieved on date from
Full link of the site.

The in-text citation for a Chicago paper would be will be like this:

According to Higginson “these qualities rendered him a proper object for the effective patriots…to bring forward to favour their views…..availed themselves of his great desire for popularity….represented him as a man useful in the cause of liberty…he was captivated…of being a publick man…was lavish of money…to gain their affections”. 1

The footnote for this would be

1. S. Higginson.Ten Chapters in the life of John Hancock. (New York. Original from
University of California, 1857), 6-7.

The ‘Notes page’, at the end of the essay but before the bibliography page, should read like this:

Stephen Higginson. Ten Chapters in the life of John Hancock. (New York. Original from
University of California, 1857), 6-7.

The last page that is the ‘Bibliography page’ that arranges the names of the cited authors alphabetically, should read like this:

Higginson, S. Ten Chapters in the life of John Hancock. New York. Original from
University of California, 1857. Digitized on 11th October 2007.

Poem Essay- Basic Guidelines

A poem essay generally means writing critical analysis of a given poem. It will involve discussing the writing style of the poet, the basic theme of the poem and the message it conveys to its readers. The essay style will be generally in the form of a literary article and essay formatting like the APA/MLA/Chicago/Harvard, will be as the teacher instructs. Given below is an example of an essay analyzing the Shakespearean sonnets.

Introduction

William Shakespeare (1564-1616) is one of the most dominant writers in the world of English literature and perhaps inarguably the greatest playwrights of the English Renaissance period. He has 37 plays and154 sonnets to his credit that carry his name. His sonnets are extremely popular and represent the many phases of life, written by the poet in different times……

Body

Sonnet is a poem or “A 14-line verse form usually having one of several conventional rhyme schemes.” (The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, Sonnet). Shakespearean sonnet is characterized by three quatrains and a couplet and is divided into four parts. Each of the first three parts has a length of four lines, each part rhyming differently and forms the quatrain. Its rhyming goes as ABAB, CDCD and EFEF. The fourth part forms the couplet and has an independent rhyming that goes as GH. Shakespeare in his sonnets used the….

This sonnet talks about the passage of time. The first quatrain talks about, how time goes on like the waves that break upon the shore, a minute being replaced by another as the waves replace each other in a regular sequence. The second quatrain compares life to that of the sun, being born (nativity), then passing to maturity in the noontime and going for the setting that “eclipses” its glory. The third one compares time to an evil that can only destroy and ravage one’s youth and beauty. The couplet at the end fights against time and defies it, to convey….

Shakespeare’s most famous sonnets are on love that are dramatic and seem to tell us a story.
