The important skills required for a writer who is about to write a critical essay are the abilities to see and think critically and objectively about a the chosen topic and write an essay that discusses the subject analytically and presents a well thought argument well backed by logical and strong, reliable evidences. A critical essay does not necessarily mean that it will be a negative criticism on the subject. It may also be a positive criticism on the issue. The main point while writing this essay will be to take a stand and prove that point. If the writer feels the issue taken into consideration is good then he will have to prove his statement. Similarly if he feels that he has opposing opinions on the subject matter, then he will have to prove his point with evidences. A critical essay is not an argumentative essay and the writer will have to remember that. A good critical essay will in general not argue, it will critically examine an issue, take a stand and back it up with strong reasoning and good evidences.
