Personal “Anti-Anonymous” Essay Topics And More

December, 2008

Peek-a-boo, I see you! Personal doesn’t mean private!

This challenging, mind-boggling essay variety demands personal disclosure unlike an interview, you’re free to select the nature of the information you want to divulge.  Face up to the writing task at hand, although you’re probably wondering what is appropriate to write about…the answer is: anything and everything you are comfortable sharing.  Suitable personal essay topics depend entirely on the directives given to you by your teacher, but if I may interject, I have a few suggestions for you:

Favorites…

  • * Color
  • * Food
  • * Animal
  • * Pet
  • * Toys
  • * Books
  • * Movies
  • * Sports etc…

You can be as explicit with the details as you feel necessary, but hold your target audiences attention.  Three things will be expected of you:

  • One - you will have to share something of meaning.
  • Two - you will have to have a reason for the chosen topic.
  • Three – you will have to identify with the topic’s meaning.

Articulate yourself with your own style and performance, direct your audience through the when, where and why.  This genre of essay within respect is a direct route to self-expression, you steer the car in the direction you want to go just make sure you have a destination.   Through your words the audience will come to the point you intend to make known.  Let the purpose brew in the pot, stir it a little and as your essay develops its personal meaning to you as an individual will be identified.  Cleaver wording and the use of prose is great practice for this sort of writing venture.

Your essay should reflect you in every way possible whereas even if the reader is unaware of your presence in sections, they will retain more than anticipated.  A personal essay topic is just that –personal.  You can choose to write about:

  • * A specific moment in time
  • * A part of your life
  • * A vivid memory or dream
  • * A lost item, effect, friendship, relative etc…
  • * A material or sentimental gain
  • * A traumatic or great occasion
  • * A time where you felt successful etc…

Quotes are accepted from any source, avoid accidental plagiarism.  When using another voice in your essay, try to keep the speech short and sweet lest it might overpower your own voice.  Use the quotation keys and ensure proper citation measures are followed, provide a citation and credit record to tag along with your essay.  Quotes are primarily used to associate your feelings with anothers’, mainly to show that you are not alone in your experience or that someone else out there feels and thinks the same way you do.

Avoid topics that cause discomfort or are bound to make you cry; though you want to display emotion through your writing, if you have to deliver a speech you do not want the embarrassment of having to dismiss yourself from the room.  Personal essay topics can include anything from your experiences, journeys, triumphs, losses, advances, discoveries and more.  Don’t waist your time on shallow statements, buckle up and enjoy the ride.  If you need a little more incentive take the next right at the intersection and stop over at masterpapers.com.

Another Dimention To Citing Papers

26  November, 2008

Know how to cite your paper with 100% accuracy.

I am aware that we’ve covered citation and credit already, but I’m going to actually do it.  Here’s a confession…in school this was a sort of weakness for me, but through practice I finally threw that ball way out of the court and nailed it.  I understand that schools are more than particular when it comes to style and format so I suggest completing all your endeavors according to “the plan.”  Cite your paper exactly how you are expected.

Get with the program dudes and dudettes, there’s no test drives in life just do-overs and trying to get it write –the first time.  Now personally, I learn through example so I thought I’d provide you with a few… these scripts do belong in an essay, use your imagination -you ready?

…Health Canada has a Tobacco Control Program that provides supportive information to assist individuals on the journey to quit using tobacco products.  Since the year 2000, they have been issuing warning labels directly on cigarette packages as a strategy to make Canadians aware of the risks involved when individuals choose to smoke.  The first country in the world to issue warnings on cigarette packs was Canada.  “Tobacco Control program (TCP) monitors and analyses change in tobacco consumption patterns, public attitudes, retailer behavior and youth access restriction, industry practices and the product in support of TCP’s programs and mandate.” (Health Canada Website.)

…Since the year 2001, tobacco companies have been obligated by law to supply yearly reports of their tobacco sales domestic and imported, these reports are accessible on a national scale.  “In November 2005, Health Canada convened a workshop of recognized tobacco control researchers to review and update questions and measures pertaining to tobacco us, using the recommendations from Health Canada’s 1994 workshop on Data for Monitoring Tobacco Use.  There was consensus amoung the workshop participants that the 1994 recommendations were continuing to meet our current tobacco use surveillance needs and would continue to do so in the future.  In the discussion, it was clear that one distinct set of recommended core questions would not meet all applications.  As a result, three levels of question sets were recommended for use in various surveillance and research applications, depending on the depth of information needed on tobacco use behaviors.” (Health Canada Website.)

…Of the non-smoking populace, 36% can be considered potential smokers.  “Six in ten Canadian adults (59%) report having smoked at least 100 cigarettes in their life.  Almost all adult smokers (99%) say the same.  Four in ten non-smokers (41%) also report having smoked at least 100 cigarettes in their life.”  (Health Canada Website.)

This is how to cite a paper.  Note above that all citations are in quotations and the source of the information is in brackets beside all quotes because the information was retrieved from a website.  Okay, next:

…In many instances, they trust that the employer will not introduce them to dangerous tasks.  Neil Davis, retired Peel teacher says “They trust their mom and dad, their teacher.  They transfer that rust to their employer, and that is where things break down because the employer doesn’t have the stake in the young person’s life and welfare that the teacher does.” (Bahr 169 – 172, pg.7)

“In 1999 in Ontario, 16 people between ages 15 and 24 were killed on the job.  In 1998 it was 18 – sixteen young men and two young women.” (Bahr, 169 – 172 pg.4)

…Doug McAndless recruits retired teachers and union members to deliver health and safety programs to youth members.  Anne Wilson, a retired elementary school teacher in Timiskaming says “she’s one of more than 40 retired teachers to be recruited by McAndless…all the time she spends on this project will be worth it if she prevents just one person from getting injured.” (Bahr, 169 – 172, pg.6)

…for the last four years, the project is titled “Passport to Safety” and is in effect to help prevent work related injuries.  “Most of these kids have part time jobs, and Doug always asks them if there’s a health and safety committee at their work.  Ninety percent of them don’t know.  A lot of these jobs are in fast food restaurants and places that are high risk as far as accidents happening.  It is incredibly scary, but by far the majority of kids have had zero or minimal safety training from their employer.”  Co-op educator at West Hill Secondary School in Owen Sound, Jane McCormick says. (Bahr 169 -172, pg.5)

The process of learning how to cite a paper correctly takes a lot of light research.  Another note to register is that if the source of the information comes directly from a book, than the author’s last name and the page numbers must also be in brackets… Good luck to you.  If you are still having trouble in certain writing departments, check out MasterPapers custom papers.  They have professional writers available to assist you in all your writing endeavors.

Complexities Of Methodology Writing Explained

25  November, 2008

Confused when it comes to methodology writing? Webster describes methodologies as “…a system of methods, as in any particular science…”

Methodology writing assigns two main purposes; serving to describe how the data was collected or fabricated and how was it investigated.  This type of writing explains how the method influences the end result. The word “method” would be a more accurate word to use in reference to methodology as the manner employs a systematic study of procedures, practices analysis of the methods and is produced within an amount of discipline subjected to methodology writing.  Your method should also consist of a detailed record of steps taken to prevent anticipated problems discussed in the paper.  Careful research and significant straws of information will provide evidence to conclude your methodology, similar to essay writing.
Methodology writing is:

  • * An assortment of hypothesis, theories, perceptions, thesis, concepts or ideas.
  • * It employs the practice of analysis while observing the fundamentals of method.
  • * Also employing a comparative study of sort.
  • * Involving an assessment of particularized methods; (cause and effect.)
  • * Acts in accordance with a systematic approach applied within a certain discipline.

Your instructor would have given you directives on how specifically he/she expects you to write your methodology.  There are different measures to take when writing your method, you must consider which sort and style is expected of you.  Most methods apply a similar approach and I can give you a generalized structure, but seek additional help from your instructor or text:

When choosing a meticulous procedure, you must be able to justify your selection.  Methodology writing is a progression.  Your first paragraph should establish the research topic and thesis also providing explicit details to accompany your findings.  The reader should be informed of the primary objectives you plan to put into action.  Proceed to include your hypothesis and opinions in the form of step by step instructions on how you intend to obtain the information for your method.

Your main body paragraphs should focus on introducing two well known principals “problem(s) meet solution(s)” at the same time, explaining how this data was collected in sequence starting with smaller to larger-scale problems.  Supply the reader with all the Intel you uncovered and proceed to explain your sources.  Amplification of how problems were analyzed defines cause and effect which logically corresponds to their solutions.

The end result is your conclusions specific to the effect of the solution as well as what was learned and achieved from the result.  For clarity of intention, your methodology conclusion should answer the following three questions:

  • * How was the problem(s) solved?
  • * Were the objectives reached? and
  • * Can this knowledge be used in the future?

Significant data assists the reader to evaluate the validity of your closing statement(s).  Shared experiences allow the possibility of simple deductions to be made.  Knowing how the information was collected helps all types of people to estimate the reliability of your results and the conclusions you drew from them.  For example, if you used a questionnaire to obtain your result the reader needs to be assured that the respondents had plenty of answers to choose from.  Another considerable detail would be to make known that there was sufficient space to insert negative responses.

Justifying, defending and accuracy could be the lead intentions for methodology writing.  Your method needs to suit your objectives and stay on task focusing on the “cause and effect” with the use of rationales for specific problems.  Think back –you’ve had the perfect opportunities in school to evaluate cause and effect in prior grades when you learned about:

  • * World War I and II
  • * Slavery of the races and oppression
  • * The Spanish Inquisition
  • * The Dynasty
  • * Conservatism
  • * World Revolutions and
  • * Capital Punishment

Notably by now you’ve established your own theories that scientist can examine with the use of their expertise, but cannot conclude with 100% certainty.  Topics like:

  • * The existence of God
  • * Three-dimensional existences
  • * Omnipotence
  • * Life after death
  • * The Big Bang theory and
  • * The theory of evolution

Anything that you know of could be used for a methodology topic; it starts with a question…better still if you know the answer.  Methodology writing doesn’t always receive fanfare for its focus and particular structure.  When in doubt, consult the experienced writers at Masterpapers.com their qualified staff work hard to research and fabricate original papers made with class and TLC you can benefit from.

MLA/APA Diverse Types Of Essay Formats Revealed

23  November, 2008

The most popular types of essay formats easily comprehensible with the following tips and examples:

Two popular writing styles for different types of essays often used are known as MLA and APA.  While MLA stands for: Modern Language Association, APA stand for: American Psychological Association.  Both writing styles have similarities and differences, most importantly, their general guidelines must be followed precisely.  These types of essay formats are increasingly gaining acknowledgment for their unique appeal.  Attractiveness and on-paper presentation play great roles, more so that the specific order for formatting to be adhered to.  MLA writing and general format to be applied when using this style consist of:

  • * Standard white sheet of paper 8.5 X 11 inches 1 inch margins all over.
  • * Use of Times New Roman font and point 12 font-size.
  • * Double space the text, generally a limit of 250 words.
  • * Indent five spaces at the start of each paragraph.
  • * Leave only one space after periods.
  • * Page numbers need to appear in the right hand corner, top of the page.
  • * Your name, instructor’s name, course and date must appear in the upper left corner.
  • * Your title appears in the center follow directives on how it must be presented.  MLA format demands all first letters of the title to have capital letters, not underlined or in quotations.   There must be a double space between the title and first paragraph.
  • * Anything requiring emphasis needs to appear in italic font.
  • * Titles and other works from sources in your paper are encouraged to be underlined throughout your essay.
  • * Reference Page and citations must be presented on a separate piece of paper.

APA writing is mainly used in psychology and sociology.  This writing style is one of several types of essay formats, APA’s formatting guidelines just as specific in nature are as follow:

  • * Standardized white sheet of paper.
  • * Double spaced text.
  • * Times New Roman or Ariel font is acceptable must be in point(s) 10 or 12 font-sizes.
  • * No use of italics, bold, underline or anything to put emphasis on a word(s).
  • * The body of your text needs to include references, you could introduce them in your text by stating (name) argues, states, says, means, claims, describes, insinuates etc…the author’s words (if used) must appear in quotations then in your own words explain what is suggested by your reference.
  • * Citations used in text are encouraged to be paraphrased and must be revealed in your reference page.
  • * Reference and citation page provided on a separate piece of paper.

Both these types of essay formats require students to produce a reference page accompanied by their essay.  The end of your piece must include a citation list and reference page where you will have to provide the sources in a similar form as a bibliography.  List the author’s name and citation and be sure to include the exact location the information can be retrieved from.  APA format requires students to proceed to write exactly what the author says followed by the paraphrased interpretation concluded by the student.

If you are still experiencing difficulty understanding the difference between these two formats, check into MasterPapers.com for expert assistance.  Their team specialises in different writing styles, precise to the required format.

Pizzazz In The Creation Of Your Science Fair Research Paper +

19  November, 2008

There’s nothing more interesting than a well thought out science fair research paper the plus side is the chance to experiment!

Let me take a guess on why you found your way here… You’re not dense, just clueless and you wanted a gold mine of ideas for a science fair research paper, good guess? It’s okay, I’ve walked a day in those shoes before.  Now it’s my tern to pass the buck.  Want to talk about the weather? How cloud formation produces rain drops? How about the sun the moons and the stars, meteorites and/or constellations? Too overdone? You want a few original ideas?  A riddle comes to mind “…there’s nothing in the barrel, but something in the barrel that makes the barrel lighter –what is it?” Could the answer be air?  What do you think the weight of air equals? If a square foot of air weighs a ton then wouldn’t that make the barrel heavier? How about a feather? A feather has an immeasurable weight to a home scale, but it certainly has a weight to it.  Besides that fact, it certainly is “something” not nothing…so answer must be (drum role please) a hole.  That’s something in the barrel, but nothing in the barrel –isn’t that the point of science and discoveries?

Your teacher expects a scientific method from you.  Your science fair research paper needs to answer the five questions: who, what, where, when and why.  Start the paper with a question followed by your hypothesis (what you believe will occur) and work through the necessary steps and experimentation until you have received the answer.  Define all the important words, concepts and equations pertinent to your paper.  If you insert prior works to this effect, give the credit to the original source and if you use words delivered by another person credit the original author, citation and credit are always important in written works.   Your plan needs to describe the procedures you intend to use while conducting your experiments.  Provide a short history of similar experiments and where your idea(s) derived from.  Supply a detailed list of all the materials you used in your experiment.  Document the result in the course of time you were given to start, the results need to be expressed in exact measurement not assumption.  The conclusion of course is the answer to the problem, hypothesis and question you posed at the very beginning of your assignment.

Much more fun than writing an essay, getting to play theories…go ahead and test these interesting facts:

A transport truck and a feather are dropped in air at the same time, which one lands first? One thing to understand is that weight has no measure in air.  It’s all about air resistance as opposed to velocity.  Regardless of what objects are dropped, gravity works to pull them downward.  If they were simultaneously dropped at the same height, they will simultaneously land.  The transport didn’t beat the feather, are you surprised? Gravity and air resistance provide the same acceleration for everything.  Your science fair research paper needs to clearly define what you know vs what you think you know.  While science tells us there is no weight measure in air, it also tells us that objects loose weight when they are placed in water.  Therefore a kilo on land weighs more than a kilo in the water.  If you fill a bucket to the rim with water then climbed in, water would spill out of sides proving that water weight reacts to body weight.  An object can only float in the water if it weighs less than the water.  An egg will not float in the pot, but try making the water weigh more than the egg and it will.  How do you enhance the density of water? –by adding salt!  Are you amazed? Try it at home –how much salt does it take to make the water denser than the egg?

Give MasterPapers.com a try if you can’t think up something off the charts and cheers to you if you leave here inspired.

Citation And Form Of A Bibliography

16  November, 2008

An up-to-par paper for college includes sources from all over…The official citation format doesn’t have to be hard work, learn by example.

So, you’re used to rinky-dink bibliographies where simply one source of information is acceptable, but what if you had to do more?  Are you ready to get your mind blown? Do all the work? Go that extra mile? Collecting mass data isn’t the problem -naming and crediting the source however, can be the ripple in the water.  Even if you are writing a bibliography for a simple essay and received information from more than one source, that info has to be organized in a specific sequence of order.  Proper citation format requires you to know exactly where that information belongs and how to process it.

Your bibliography for the citations should appeal to your teacher’s expectations.  It should be a brief description of where you retrieved that information, neatly written and in an acceptable format.  Knowing the citation format to correctly cite a paper will grant you an excellent mark for your writing as well as prove that you are not a plagiarizing imbecile.  There could be countless citation sources for your information, categorize it similar to the following format:

Gilded To A Teacher’s Expectations Of Middle School And High School Students

14  November, 2008

Research and essay topics and so the grooming process begins…

Middle School is your first taste in writing different methods and learning new techniques.  Students are encouraged to use guided writing prompts combined with fictitious and realism writing styles.  Your teacher might ask you to write a narrative essay starting on a typical Sunday and ending at dawn on the river side or at the race track.  You might explore more creative ideas, but this age is all about developing character and preparing you for what’s to come.  Most often, the development process begins with description and a lot of self reflection.  Visualization is a popular route curved to imagination where the student is expected to envision that he/she is a cloud, an ice cream cone or possibly a fly on the wall.   At this age the child is exposed to many different writing approaches such as perception, description and persuasion.  Popular middle school essay topics include:

  • -  How you see yourself
  • -  Who you are and where you are from?
  • -  If you could convince your parents to get a pet explain what it would be?
  • -  Describe the single most important thing to you.

Middle School students also receive an introduction to research.  Teachers might ask of the student to write an instruction booklet or guide fit to present in front of their peers for the purpose of explaining a logical process.  Another method teachers use to promote independent learning is to have them interview family or friends with jobs, to learn what they do and how it becomes important to the work process.  Middle School research topics are a preparation for more complex topics later to come.   Students might be asked to write short scripts or essay on everyday equipment like cell phones, compact hand held games or computer as well as other apparatuses to describe how they affect users and the world around them.

High School essay topics are anticipated to be more composite and relative to modern society.  Students learn how to properly develop a sound thesis using quick pro-quo.  They’ve had their introductory lessons on how to express, detail and explain themselves so in retrospect an improved understanding of format and writing is projected.  Now they learn the five paragraph essay format and to properly structuralize their sentences linking them in logical sequence as before only in depth.   If assigned, High School research topics could include technological advances, medical advances, higher education or things significant in history.  Students are expected to use proper grammar, vocabulary, writing structures, format, spelling and express a paper personality.  The writing being practiced to a certain level of maturity floats the bridge from High School to College ensuring by the end of a student’s High School career the gap is sealed.

Go to MasterPapers.com if you require more information regarding essay writing or research topics.  Their accomplished writers can assist you with the proper level of writing involved tailored to your individual needs.

I’m Right And You’re Wrong… It’s All About The Proof When It Comes To An Argumentative Paper

13  November, 2008

I’m about to share a few secrets with you about argumentative topics and how to make them effective enough in your essay…

The society of today has made it easy to explore the world around us, granting us freedoms of knowledge, expression and of course the freedom to have your own opinion for just about anything.  Understanding the mechanisms involved in an argumentative topic doesn’t necessarily mean you have to leave the comforts of your own home anymore.  Swing tree to tree, serf site to site, researching a topic is a snap!  Should abortion be illegal? Does society have to cater to pornographic films? Could we instill better work behaviors in the work place? Do video games create social problems in children?  You have the tools to research these topics of interest ready when you are.

Not everyone has the same opinion that is why topics as mentioned above are considered to be argumentative.  You might agree that in certain situations juvenile offenders should be tried as adults, but your peers might not…just the same as if they believed it and you didn’t.  Argumentative topics for essays could sound harmless; “Should tobacco companies be held accountable for smoke related illnesses?” but, they raise so much controversy amongst different social outlets. A driven sense and a never quenched thirst for knowledge intimidate us all, that is why research and information has a need to be acquired.  We can all share awareness brought to us in fashion by means of education or independent research.  Intelligence is invaluable, but determinations and realizations derived from learning –that understanding is priceless.

First hand information as a result of expertise, know-how or experience is considered a resource for material in an argumentative debate.  Facts, data and Intel are also necessary when presenting an argumentative topic.  Should English be declared a universal first language? What about just in the US and Canada? Or should Canada and the US force schools to teach all children to be bilingual in both the French and English language?  There are so many wide standing topics up for debate; you can categorize the topic under a critical essay or an argumentative research topic.  Shortly, I will provide you with additional topics that are of a controversial nature.  I can merely suggest that you follow all the guidelines your teacher expects of you as well as relay the information in the format you were given.

  • Should adoption records be open as opposed to restricted or sealed?
  • Should same sex marriages be legalized?
  • Should unapproved drugs be prescribed to people for the purpose of tests?
  • Do beauty pageants contribute to self esteem issues?
  • Isn’t it hypocritical to kill a person who has killed (death penalty)?
  • Does the government offer enough programs to support the homeless?
  • Should the use of marijuana be legalized to everyone?
  • Are personal identities being protected?
  • Are animal environment being preserved?
  • Should magazine models appear less provocative and less attractive?

When writing an argumentative research paper, persuade your readers and convince them that your opinion supersedes the opposition.  Present your evidence and develop a sound thesis removing doubt of controversial judgments.  If you are experiencing difficulty crafting an adequate paper, consult the skilled, competent writers at MasterPapers.com for all your writing needs.
